It's difficult to see some of the finer details in this shot but I'm pleased with the page now that it's done. I had intended to do my journaling differently but I just couldn't make it work. I don't mind strips of journaling but not when it feels like it's on EVERY page!
This shot of the lower corner shows the grey stamped swirls that I decided to place into two opposing corners because the page seemed too empty to me without them. I then added some piercing here and there for interest and decided to add the adhesive gems to mimic mum's necklace.
I used some simple pale pink adhesive letters and numbers to add mum's name and the year and a few inked paper flowers although I kept these to a minimum (and resisted the temptation to add leaves).
There is a whole bunch of stitching on the page from the designer paper panels to edging the page to detailing the right side of the text and even the lace and pink ribbon around one corner of the photo itself.
I think my mother would approve - so much so that I may reproduce this page exactly as it is and have it framed for mum. I think it would look lovely on the wall in her bedroom. Since she's now 73 it would be a nice momento for her to look at now and then. It's just a shame I don't have a nice large photo of dad (he died of cancer 4 months before I was born) but I'd love to do a framed page of their wedding day for her.
As you get older you begin to realise so do parents, siblings, children and grandchildren. Since both 'mum & mom' (yes I have one of each) are now in their 70's, one living with leukaemia, the other living with heart problems it becomes more important to do these little projects now and not keep putting them off.
Well my grandaughter is asleep in my bed - Dave's side as he's now at the Christian camp 'soul survivor' for a week - she's sleeping in her PRINCESS pj's and has just had Cinderella read to her so she should be having sweet dreams. It may take me a couple of days to post the projects I'm working on next. They are 1/3 done but tomorrow is all about Maddycakes so they may just have to stay that way for a day or two.
Like I said - some things are more important!
