Sew Cute!

Just stoppin by to share a really cute sewing tutorial here at 'Spoonful of Sugar' that I ran across this morning.  If you can sew a straight seam then you can make one of these.  Word of warning tho' - use very thin fabrics.  Mine was a CK fabric - great project for scraps BTW - but it was almost too stiff.  A thinner, lighter weight fabric would be softer and drape much nicer I think.

I used the same fabric for both sides too which I don't think works so well.  I just HAD to have a go so I could create an 'idea memory' in  my head - you know kinda like when you score and pre-fold card stock to create a 'paper memory' so the paper knows where to go each time.  Oh do we really care about that right now?  In truth - I just wanted to see how it all worked LOL!

In principle I realiy liked this idea but I would want to play around with it some more.  I like the idea of petals draped over the little bundle so maybe I need to play with fabrics more next time.  This little bundle holds a small jar of home made microwave jam.  How cute would it be to give this as a gift tucked into a basket with home made scones or something. Only thing I would change is my ribbon - it needs something nice and wide, something satin and a completely different colour.  This one's just not doin it for me.

And my mind's already thinkin this on a larger scale would make a nice casserole dish holder for 'pot luck' and church dinners.  I could make that work I'm sure.  Gotta love net surfing!  Sooooo many talented people out there.

And check out her valentine pot holder idea - soooo gona make this before the year's out plus I just love her wine bag idea from jeans.  She is going into my list of sewing blogs for sure!

Enjoy!
