Easter Crafting

Here comes that cute little bunny again!

Anyone who knows me and who has crafted with me over the past few years will most probably have made one of these cute little bunny tags at one time or another. I made them for the Parent & Toddler Group at our church a couple of years ago (me and 14 other women made 80!). Before that I even posted this card on www.twopeasinabucket.com in my gallery. That was back in the days when I posted to Two Peas of course. These days I only post to my own blog which I much prefer.

I think the original idea came from an issue of PaperCrafts magazine that I subscribed to. The one in the magazine was very basic and not at all cute. I had a play and mine turned out much cuter and took on a whole different look so I ran with it.

I made them in pink for girls and blue for boys - how cute! I added the pen detailing and even the text is in my handwriting. The eyes are made using brads and this is really what brings this little bunny to life. Before then he has no real character or identity.

I ran a class last night at Your Touch of Craft and this little bunny popped up again. This time he had a complete re-vamp on a bright and much more modern style card. I love to take an old design and create something very different with it. It's a bit like going back to an old favourite.

I used a different fold for the card and added yummy pearlescent papers, lots of ribbon and pretty scalloped edges. The card opened to reveal our Easter text inside.

We also made this little Chinese 'take away' box that looks lovely in the same bright colours and decorated with pretty ribbons.

I used my trusty Sizzix leaf die cut which we shaped and moulded and then made 3D with foam pads. I used one of Amanda's flower die cuts to layer up the flower and then a bright coloured button to complete the embellishement.

The handle is made out of strong wire that I picked up at a DIY centre. I actually bought it several years ago figuring it would come in handy for a project I wanted to do at the time, but I never quite got around to it. I'm so glad I could finally use it. After cutting it you simply bend it around a wide jar and 'hook' the ends. These then hook into the sides of the box and it swivvels nicely.

Theses would be so cool filled with tissue paper 'grass' and little eggs buried inside.

The next 2 sessions of Crafty Women are open sessions so I may just craft a couple myself for the grandkids this year.

Amanada still has a few class packs left over if anyone was interested in having one. Everything you need is included except the wire and it's worth buying just for the templates alone! If you photocopy the templates and reduce them you get a really small little box. You can enlarge them for a bigger box too but you will have to piece the box when you put it together.

NOTE (to mom) I will get your pretty cards done to post today. How do you fancy doing these for the next project?
