It was a major nightmare trying to walk around the store since I now can't walk in a straight line without hubby's help and support - just ask Amanda - she'll tell you. Jess has done nothing but laugh at me since she arrived - shame on her!
While I was in store I was somewhat sneaky and asked hubby to tear off a piece of red wallpaper as a sample. I know you're only supposed to tear of small pieces and I had him tear off about a 4 ft length but I needed to re-cover my note board. Does that make me a bad person LOL! Maybe I shouldn't really laugh here? Anyhow what's done is done and we were spending money in store besides it's not like I do this every day. I can just hear Kay saying 'well Suezie - that's not very Christian' and I know - I do feel kinda bad about it but doesn't my notice board look good in red? Shame, shame Suezie!
He parked directly outside one of my favourite fabric stores to make it easier for me and with the help of both him and Jess I was finally able to shop for a few fabrics. The red and cream heart fabric is my main accent fabric (valance, tie-backs, throw cushion etc.) and although you can't see it there is the slightest green thread running through the plaid design (there's a bit of green in the border). I had seen this fabric on JoAnn's website at a pretty price and it wasn't cheap here either but thankfully the window is small so as my accent fabric I don't need more than a couple metres. I think the hearts give it a lovely 'folk art' feel which is kinda cute and I was so surprised to even find it here.
I was able to pick up some feather pillows in two sizes as well. When we viewed the bed in store there were masses of pillows on it which looked lovely so I aim to do the same with mine. It'll make it more comfortable if we sit on it so it serves a double purpose - looks and use.
Besides we have the kids bears that need to sit on the bed as well so they need soft cushions to prop up against.
I was fortunate enough to pick up 3 other fabrics, one in red, one cream and one navy blue - all in the exact same design and all double width so this is what I plan to make the other cushions out of. Hopefully there'll be enough cream left for a valance around the bed if I'm careful.
All I need now is the curtains themselves and maybe a nice red rug, a few photo frames and we're almost there! Well I still have to tidy, organise, finish painting, add the border, build one more unit, get nets up, actually SEW this fabric - oh dear! Maybe I still have a ways to go yet huh? Still - I will have plenty to keep me occupied when I'm feeling up to it I guess.
I can't wait until it's all done and I can share REAL photos and I can get back to crafting - YAY!!! I am really missing it.
Before I go I have to share something that even made me laugh today. We had stopped at a rest stop on the way home to use the bathroom. Jess helped me in and I managed fine in the cubicle. On coming out I planned to use the nearest sink but my body promptly went left and then forward and took me to the third sink over the other side - this is so out of control and so WEIRD let me tell ya! Anyhow I worked my way back around, washed my hands, grabbed paper towel and dried them and then needed back over there to the bin. I could see the bin. I was aiming for the bin. Jess was by now busy washing her hands so she was otherwise occupied. I set out and promptly (and without warning) ended up across the bathroom and bang into the corner where 2 wall met!
Both Jess and I couldn't stop laughing! In fact if I hadn't already pee'd, well - I'd have pee'd my pants laughing. I dread to think what would've happened if the wall hadn't been there to stop me! We were still laughing when we came out and then started all over again when we explained what had happened to Dave!
I am seeing my GP again tomorrow - these pills don't seem to be helping and she's getting concerned so she won't wait till next week as planned. I sure hope she can do something before I get hurt walking into walls and falling into dryers - oh that's a story for another day LOL!
Hugs
