I whipped up a batch of birthday cupcakes and made some cake picks with the scrap circles I had left over and random stamps. I already had red, white and blue sprinkles in the cupboard left over from the jubilee celebrations this year and I used shiny red foil cupcake cases. I usually have a cake mix or two on hand in the store cupboard to make things like this easier but the frosting was made from scratch.
The kids always love to blow out a candle while we sing happy birthday but these days it's usually only a single one.

And here is the birthday boy opening up Grandma's hand made card and gift. He knew immediately that it was from me.

Plus the others wanted in on the act while Grandma was snapping away so here is our motley crew aged from left to right - 12, 10 & 7. Early next year we will have a teenager in the family again so we are already planning something big for that birthday. Boy they sure grow up fast don't they!
And as I suspected he was thrilled with his new skinny jeans and Sponge Bob t-shirt plus he can buy himself something nice with his birthday money. He made out like a bandit! But birthdays are about being spoilt so why not?
And since the theme for the upcoming Waltzing Mouse blog hop is 'birthdays' and I haven't scrapped a page in a while (excluding Lily's page that is) I am tempted to get a few prints and scrap this event. I've pinned a few cool ideas of late and I'm keen to try one or two out.
Enjoy!
Suezie
