Women's Garden Tea Party

Last weekend we successfully held a tea party. It surprised us all since the weather was so bad and I really didn't want to have to hold it indoors.

None the less we did have to and after trusting God to bring people out despite the pouring rain we were pleasantly surprise that about 30 turned out for it.

It was a lovely excuse to get out all the pretty cake stands and china. We got lucky and found about 35 dainty cups and saucers buried in a box in a cupboard just a few days before. We completed the service by using stainless steel teapots, coffee pots, jugs and sugar bowls.

Vicky helped out as well as some of the other Crafty Women committee members. We decided to work 1 hour shifts so we would each have time to sit and have tea with our invited guests. It meant we all had a lovely break and a chance to catch up with friends and family.

I had been buying up all the stainless steel tea sets I could lay my hands on at car boot sales and in charity shops throughout the summer. We will no doubt use them all again during the women's breakfasts and the Christmas evening.

I love to collect anything shiny or pretty glass and have all kinds of trays and platters as well so it was a real joy to use some of them.. They usually only come out at Christmas or special occasions.

The other joy was watching all the ladies have a really good time. Nobody was in a hurry to leave so they all spent time chatting and getting to know one another better. It was a pleasure to serve them and I plan to put an event like this in the Crafty Women calendar each year.
