My Box

Just wanted to post my little box since I didn't get a chance to make myself one the other evening. I made it in a bit of a rush and I still think I need to add a flower but the few different ones I tried just didn't seem to work so I've left it as it is.

I posted the link to the tutorial for this little box in my earlier post (sisters). I think when I have more time I will give it another go and work on the decoration a bit more. I am in two minds whether to teach this box and the cards that go in it or whether to teach my snowman soup bag at the Christmas workshop at the Glen this year - hmmmm?

I decided to keep it really simple though because I didn't have much time - that way I could repeat the process for several cards as part of the set as well.

People often ask me how do I have time to craft. I have come to the conclusion that I don't. I manage to find time to create a sample but unless I'm either teaching the project or making them in a group for an event, I seldom have time to make more than one!

I still have our invites to finish for the Christmas dessert evening (my back has stopped my crafting lately) but the girls will help tomorrow evening with that and then I am on to tags for candy canes to give out at church over the Christmas period - busy, busy, busy!!!!!

Shopping Trip

After sharing the news of a couple of new craft stores in our area with my sisters last night, Gillian rang this morning to invite me along on a shopping trip if I would show her where they were.


I have already mentioned Capture the Magic in a previous post but a second craft store Calico Crafts has now opened in unit 12 which is just behind. We had the chance to check them both out again today.


To think I used to have my darling hubby drive me all the way to Hornchurch to shop for craft supplies and now we have 3 in Bury and several more within a 20 mile radius. How cool is that?


I have traded with both of these stores online for a while so I can personally recommend them. Calico Crafts has the loveliest vintage labels that I love to use for cards with a difference.

There's no need for me to post details of the website because it's listed here in this photo of the sign outside above the door. Check it out and Helen tells me that you can order on line and then go and collect if you want to. They also stock some of the lovely Whipper Snapper design stamps in the snowman projects I've featured recently.

This is Helen in front of one of the many different sections in the store. It was clear they were still very much settling in to the new premises and the whole place had a wonderful 'new wood' smell. It must've taken absolutely ages to build in all the various shelving units.

This is 'mother' who got dragged along for the shopping trip but she even managed to do some craft shopping herself so she can now cross her friend Edna off her Christmas shopping list. Lucky Edna! Mum likes to craft now and then but it doesn't come so easy as she's getting older - she's 71 and her eyes don't work well close up without glasses, her hands won't always do what she wants them to but she still makes a valid effort now and then.

Today was a very full and busy day after such a late night and I still want to do my little box. Decisions, decisions, decisions - I think I'm going to have to choose my papers and stick to my choice or I'll never get it done!

New Specs!

I need to do several postings so I can share a few projects with you but right now I have just enough time to grab dinner and settle down to watch this weeks X Factor.

I wanted to share this picture of my eldest grandson Zach wearing his new glasses.

He had his eyes tested a few months ago and was a bit disappointed that he didn't need glasses but then a very observant teacher noticed he kept squinting to see the board. We took him back for a further eye test and sure enough he had one weak eye, so he has to have glasses for a few months to see if it helps.

I told him he looked very handsome and they also made him look very intelligent so he said "but I am Grandma!"

I'm not a proud Grandma in the slightest - yeh right!
